Our first UK based adventure travel weekend is a two-day journey across the byways and drove roads of the ancient land of Wessex. Following our ancestors' footprints we will see ancient stone circles, white horses, barrows and hill forts, enjoying the sense of space and freedom that only a trip across such an uninhabited land can bring.

All the routes used are Byways Open to all Traffic (BOAT) approved following continual liaison the local Rights Of Way Office prior to the trip. The overall route will cover between 50 and 70 miles each day on a mixture of roads and tracks.

Under-body protection (diff guards) on your vehicle may be an advantage, but by no means essential as the route has been designed not to damage you or your vehicle, although minor scratching may occur on some of the narrower tracks.  Track selection is dependant on the weather and ground conditions and as fords and the odd puddle may be encountered, wading plugs and a pair of wellies may be advisable. Atlas Overland guides and their fully equipped support vehicles will be on hand to coach, advise and help throughout.

Due to the distances involved in this trip it is imperative that your vehicle is well prepared. Whilst it is not an exhuastive inventory, we have provided a kit list as a basic guide.

A few sensible precautions will save a lot of anxiety should you fall ill abroad. Please review our list of precautions and medical supplies you should take on your expedition.
