Carpathian Trails
Journey through Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. This is a three week trip criss-crossing borders, through the spectacular Carpathian mountain range.
We will travel to the Czech Republic having visited several attractions in Germany. Our route then takes us into Poland, east towards the Ukrainian border, down into Slovakia and back into Czech Republic. The terrain includes forest trails, river crossings, mountain passes and crosses central Europe's largest desert, used by the famous Africa Korps prior to their sojourn to North Africa, where you can practice your sand driving skills.
This seldom visited region of Europe is criss-crossed with tracks and trails meandering through rustic countryside where farmland is still cultivated by horsepower.
There are numerous reminders of both the Cold War and WW11 for the military minded and we will visit Colditz castle and the escape museum. There are also the famous wooden churches in Slovakia, set among green, rolling hillsides. As well as off-road driving we will take time for other activities from river-rafting to sightseeing in beautiful city of Krakow.
Our usual accommodation will be on campsites, however we have decided to include a number of hotel nights. There will be opportunities to experience regional cuisine, including of course the local beer and wine.
