Tunisia Tour

Due to the current security situation in Tunisia we have suspended our tours to the country for the moment. We hope to reinstate this tour once stability returns.

So much more than just a beach holiday destination, Tunisia offers the opportunity for experiencing the vastness of the Sahara desert.

We meet in Marseille and our ferry sails to Tunis, giving an immediate introduction to North African city life. Your senses will be overwhelmed by the exotic sights sounds and smells of the country's capital. Leaving the city behind, we head south to Kairouan. Our 5 star hotel is in the heart of this World Heritage Site providing the opportunity for an evening stroll around the fascinating medina with its narrow winding streets and spectacular architecture.

Our route heads south, exchanging hotel for wild camping under North African skies. Along the way we pass reminders of the desert campaign of the Second World War including Rommel's Bunker and other sites of interest.

Then it's off to the desert! We head west to the fabled oasis of Ksar Ghilane. This marks the boundary between the rocky plains to the east and the vast sand sea to the west. Our campsite is on the edge of the dunes and provides an excellent base for a few days where we can practice sand driving and recovery techniques before heading into the dunes.

We will then spend several days exploring the Sahara, wild camping under the stars. Our route will lead us eventually to the vast salt flat of Chott El Jerid. With a well-earned rest in the quiet town of Kebili, we well take the opportunity of restocking with food, fuel and water for the next stage of our tour.

Continuing west we pass the town of Tozeur heading heading across the chott close to the Algerian border. Here we will visit more of the movie sets from the Star Wars films which are scattered throughout the country. Our route then heads north-west and our final destination is the coastal town of El Kantaoui where we have a well-deserved two night stay again in a 5 star hotel. With a chance to swim in the Mediterranean, explore the picturesque port, or just laze by the pool, it's a great way to chill out at the end of a fantastic desert adventure, before heading north for our ferry back to Europe.
